Open source AI tools that respect people.
Starside Labs builds practical, local-first AI. Our work spans three initiatives: privacy-first computer vision, the meeting point of AI and human cognition, and structured knowledge that adapts to its audience.
Three initiatives
Every active project ladders up to one of these. Pick a thread to follow.
Privacy-First AI
AI that runs on your hardware, on your footage, with nothing leaving the machine. Surveillance and analytics without surrendering the data.
AI & Human Cognition
Using brain-predictive models to measure how machine output lands in a human mind. Translation, meaning, and cognitive fidelity.
Knowledge & Communication
Turning raw content into structured, audience-aware output. One source, many tailored renderings, all from a single canonical model.
What we are building now
The current focus. All open source, all under active development.
Verso
Early accessA presentation system where content is defined in JSON, rendered in HTML, and built from the ground up for multiple audiences. One deck branches into tailored narratives.
Petrify
ActiveA computer vision pipeline that removes people from security footage while preserving the live timestamp. Frame-perfect, zero-config, fully local.
Langdrift
ActiveDetect cognitive drift across translations using brain-predicted neural activation. Measures whether a translation carries the same cognitive weight as the original.
Neurowire
SaaS soonTurn any blog into a modern feed. Normalizes websites, RSS and Atom into one canonical model, then publishes Atom, JSON Feed, Markdown and styled pages. Freemium SaaS coming.
Core values
Open by default
Every project ships under a permissive license. Read the code, fork it, build on it. No black boxes.
Local and private
Where it matters, computation stays on your machine. Your footage, your data, your control.
Built for people
We measure success by how the work lands with a human, not just a benchmark. Accessibility over hype.
Build with us
We are a small open source lab in Singapore. Contributions, issues and ideas welcome.
